Real Estate Philosophy
Purchasing or selling real estate requires managing hundreds of details, knowing requirements, regional disclosures, negotiating skills, and how to effectively manage entering into the escrow process once a home is found or when an offer gets accepted. My approach is centered on communicating well with my clients and helping to clarify and educate in terms of the intricate market nuances and specific area knowledge that is involved when buying or selling a home.
Change is rarely a comfortable process, and buying or selling a home ranks among one of the most stressful events that people undertake in their lives. People sometimes feel that a real estate transaction can have the same stress-producing qualities as getting married or having a child. It is my job to keep clients sober and to help them realize that even though buying or selling property is not like running down to the corner store, it is still in the end just a purchase like anything else. I have bought and sold property myself and I know that it can be an overwhelming and emotional process.
As a Realtor, I am here to help buffer the stress involved in completing a successful real estate transaction. I am here to provide the guidance and patience that is necessary to have a smooth and rewarding experience that is the right and expectation of every citizen of this great nation... to own a piece of land that can be called "home." For those who are fortunate enough to own their own home and want to build wealth through owning investment property I am here for you as well. I value my relationships and have built my business on a foundation of long term repeat business and referrals. Befriending people is in my nature and one of the most rewarding aspects of being a professional in the real estate industry is gaining new friends. I look forward to working with new clients and with all of my previous clients and friends. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding real estate -- I can't promise to have all the answers, but I am pretty sure I know enough other people in my industry who can help me get you the answers if I don't!
A Bit of My Background
I am a life-long east bay resident. I have a fairly extensive knowledge of the Bay Area having spent a lot of time in places like Santa Cruz (lived there,) and on the Peninsula -- particularly in Palo Alto, as well as in more remote areas such as Sonoma where I almost lived at one time. I would say that I can confidently drive from Santa Rosa to probably Monterey and beyond without getting on the freeway (and probably without having to look at a map.) I think sometime in the future I might like to conduct sight seeing tours of the entire Bay Area if I could learn a bit more of the obscure facts that usually make up the contents contained in the minds of such tour guides.
I graduated in 1996 from UCSC with a degree in anthropology. I was a substitute teacher for Contra Costa County where I worked with "severly emotionally disturbed" and "at-risk kids" -- I also was a substitute at the middle school and high school level before going to work at Oakland Public Schools where I helped to run the educational television station KDOL as an associate producer doing production and post-production of math-related programming and distance learning curriculum. I am a black belt level user of Adobe Photoshop and know my way around most of the other Adobe products. I have a fairly extensive background in landscape construction and finish carpentry. My hobbies include metal sculpture working mostly with bronze and cast iron, ceramics, digital art, TIG welding, woodworking, and Aikido. I am technically savvy and I play well with others.
